SUMMARY:Addressing Antisemitism & Aligning Lay & Professional Leadership for Impact
DESCRIPTION:Addressing Antisemitism & Aligning Lay & Professional Leadership for Impact\nOpen to the Community!\nWednesday\, October 29 | 7:00-8:30pm\nRSVP Here!\n\nCongregation Neveh Shalom & the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland welcomes Dr. Dean P. Bell\, President & CEO of Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning & Leadership\, to our community! He will share his expertise and lead our community in an important learning session. \nThis interactive session will contextualize contemporary antisemitism and examine a range of approaches to addressing it. Refreshments will be served. \nAbout Dr. Dean P. Bell:\nDean P. Bell (PhD\, University of California\, Berkeley) is the 9th President and CEO of Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership in Chicago. SUMMARY:The 2024 Rabbi Joshua Stampfer Community Enrichment Award
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 Rabbi Joshua Stampfer Community Enrichment Award dinner\, honoring \nBrian Suher\nJoin us to celebrate Brian’s dedication to our community\, the legacy of previous honorees\, and the evening’s featured organization\, the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education. \nRSVP required: https://members.nevehshalom.org/form/community-enrichment-2024 \nTickets: $72/person or $576/table (8 people) \nQuestions? Please call the CNS office at 503.246.8831. \nIf you can’t attend but would like to donate to the Enrichment Award Fund\, you can do so by visiting the registration form and only filling out the name/contact and donation sections. Thank you for your generosity. \n\nAbout Brian Suher\n \nBrian Suher\, Portland-born and bred\, has been a perennial volunteer for decades. His goal: to enrich lives and build and sustain local Jewish and non-Jewish organizations. \nThose he’s touched in a significant way include Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp\, Oregon College of Art & Craft\, Camp Solomon Schechter\, Oregon Jewish Community Foundation and Congregation Neveh Shalom\, on whose executive committee he serves today. Brian works full-time as a managing director of The Suher Investment Team. \nIn 2016\, Brian tragically lost his Israeli nephew in a terrorist attack. To honor his memory\, Brian established the Yoni Suher\, z”l\, Scholar-in-Residence program that brings internationally acclaimed academics to Neveh Shalom for a weekend of learning open to all. This year’s drew more than 600 people. \nBrian exemplifies the principles that Rabbi Joshua Stampfer\, z”l\, taught him over his lifetime and that Brian sums up as “leadership by example.” Brian believes that rolling up his sleeves and offering his time and expertise to the community is a gift to his children\, eight grandchildren and entire extended family. \nConsider honoring Brian with a donation to the Yoni Suher\, z”l\, Scholar-in-Residence Fund. Click here to make your donation.
