Interested in learning Modern Hebrew?
Start by mastering the alef-bet and decoding in our Beginning Hebrew class, and move up through three levels of Modern Hebrew. Interested participants with prior Hebrew experience are encouraged to fill out the proficiency test (see right column of this page) to help us find the most fitting level for you.
Graduates of Conversational Hebrew or those with conversational proficiency, are welcome to take advantage of our Graduate Level Course (see bottom of the page for more information).

Beginning Hebrew
This course (or its equivalent level of mastery) is a pre-requisite for all other Hebrew and synagogue skill classes and acts as the first year of Machon Ivrit.
Ease into Hebrew beginning with Alef-Bet letter recognition, vowels, and decoding skills, and move on to build a basic vocabulary.

Modern Hebrew
Join us for a year-long course in Modern Hebrew, with engaging teachers and a specially designed curriculum. This once-a-week program brings learners to higher levels of speaking, reading, and understanding. $720 for CNS members / $800 for non-members. Financial aid is available. Register here
Level One: Ready to Read & Speak

For those with a working knowledge of the Alef-Bet and some basic Hebrew vocabulary. Focus on practical vocabulary and grammar.
Pre-requisite: Beginning Hebrew or its equivalent level of mastery.
Level Two: Advanced Hebrew

Pick up where you left off in Level One. Use engaging reading material to improve reading, speaking, and comprehension skills. Broaden vocabulary and grammar to include focus on past, present, and future tense and additional verb forms.
Prerequisite: Ready to Read & Speak, or its equivalent level of mastery.
Level Three: Conversational Hebrew
Tuesdays, 7-9pm

Teacher: Reudor Rubin
Continue practicing Hebrew with a focus on real life situations and stories. Discuss Israeli news articles and other modern media as well as experiences from your week.
