Congregation Neveh Shalom cares about each and every one of our members. When a family in our kehillah is in need of a helping hand, we are prepared to offer assistance.

Meal Support
The Neveh Shalom Hesed Committee “Meal Train” Program provides meals to those in our congregation who may need some temporary community support. Over the past year, meal support has been provided to congregants recovering from surgery, undergoing chemotherapy, managing mental health crises, experiencing sudden unemployment, welcoming a new child, grieving over the death of a loved one, and other challenges.
For each household needing support, a special online page is created to help facilitate scheduling and to provide any dietary guidelines necessary.
How You Can Help
- Volunteer to Cook a Meal – Cook and deliver a meal from your own kitchen, or join scheduled group Hesed Cooking opportunities at the synagogue.
- Like to Cook but Unable to Deliver?
- Don’t Like to Cook but Want to Help Out? Join our growing corps of Hesed Meal Drivers. Pick up a meal that has been prepared by one member and deliver it to a Meal Train recipient.
Need Support?
Please be sure to inform our clergy, the synagogue office, or a member of the Hesed Committee if you or someone you know is experiencing any challenging circumstances that could use clergy or community support. Confidentiality and discretion are priorities.
Contact Darryl Rotman Kuperstock at (203)215-8555 or kuperst@gmail.com to be added to our list of Meal Train volunteers, to get help with signing up, or for more information.

Hesed Carpool
Our congregation has people who want to attend services and other events at Neveh Shalom but need transportation to and from the synagogue. The Hesed Committee would like to help by providing a contact within their neighborhood with whom they may arrange a carpool.
Contact Janet Franco, calbear-jf@proton.me if you are interested in volunteering.

Wellness Phone Calls
Would you or a loved one enjoy a friendly check-in now and then?
Our Hesed volunteers are happy to make occasional phone calls to those who may be feeling a little isolated. Whether it’s a quick hello or a longer chat, we’re here to help you feel connected and cared for.
