What is USY? Kadima? Junior Kadima?

Our goal is to foster a sense of community and build strong leaders through activities and retreats for youth in 3rd grade through high school. In addition to connections built in ALIYAH and Tichon, our youth groups offer an opportunity for casual interaction and meaningful relationships.

Junior Kadima (grades 3-5)

Junior Kadimaniks are our rising leaders! We meet regularly for fun and exciting events that explore the greater Portland area.

Kadima (grades 6-8)

Kadima meets locally for social, religious and community service-based activities, with a regional convention each year. Kadimaniks begin to take leadership in planning their own events.

USY (grades 9-12)

United Synagogue Youth is the official youth group of the Conservative Movement. USY meets for social, religious and community service-based activities, quarterly regional conventions and an annual international convention. Active USYers become leaders here in Portland, around the Northwest, and even on an international level. USY conducts summer programs based in various parts of the U.S., Europe and Israel. Our chapter is called “Portland Rishonim” and we are part of the Pinwheel region.

In addition to monthly programs, and weekly lounge nights, we hope you’ll join us at a regional event. It is a lot of fun and scholarships are available!
